Aarhus is full of talented photographers — and a few less talented ones. The price can swing from a few hundred kroner to many thousands for seemingly the same thing. So how do you choose well? Here are the seven things we'd look for ourselves.
1. Portfolio over promises
Anyone can write that they're professional. Look at the actual work: are the images sharp, is the light considered, and — most importantly — do they evoke a feeling? A strong portfolio says more than any sales pitch.
2. A match in style
A photographer with a light, airy look and one who makes dark, dramatic images can both be talented — but they suit different people. Choose one whose style matches what you're dreaming of.
3. Experience with your kind of job
Portrait, wedding, business and food are very different disciplines. A photographer who has done many of your kind of job knows where the pitfalls are and delivers more reliably.
4. Price vs. value
The cheapest is rarely the best, and the most expensive isn't automatically it. Ask what's included in the price: how many edited images, how fast the delivery, and what you're allowed to use them for afterwards.
5. Ownership and delivery
Do you get full ownership, so you're free to print and share? Are the images delivered in a private gallery in high resolution? And when? That should be clear before you book.
6. Personal chemistry
You need to be relaxed in front of the camera for the images to be good. Have a short chat first — if it feels safe and comfortable, you're a long way there.
7. Genuine reviews
Look for reviews from real clients, not just a star rating. They tell you what it's like to work with the photographer when it counts.
