Most of our images today live on a screen. But a photo on the wall does something else entirely — it becomes part of the home. The problem is that an image that looks great on your phone doesn't automatically look great in print. Here's what determines the result.
File quality and resolution
The bigger you want to print, the more resolution it takes. A screenshot or a heavily compressed photo from social media rarely holds up beyond a small format. If the image needs to go large, you need the original file in full resolution.
Paper and material
Matte, glossy or on aluminium and acrylic — the material completely changes how the image feels. Matte gives calm and an artistic expression; glossy gives depth and saturation. There's no single right choice, but there is one that suits the subject and the room.
Colour management
What you see on an uncalibrated screen isn't necessarily what the printer delivers. Professional print uses colour management, so the colours on the wall match the intention — instead of coming out too dark or with a colour cast.
Size and placement
An image that's too small for the wall disappears. A good rule of thumb: wall art is allowed to take up space. Think about the distance you view it from, and what else hangs around it.
Framing
The frame and any mount aren't just decoration — they lift the image and tie it to the room. Natural, calm tones work almost always.
