The supply voyage through the ice — for a national exhibition

The Maritime Museum of Denmark sent us to Tasiilaq in Greenland to document one of the most important days of the year: the summer day when the ice breaks up and the supply ship arrives with the year's first goods. For the town it isn't just a practical day — it's a day of celebration and a milestone. The material was to be part of the museum's major exhibition “Seafarer – 400 years of Danish history”.

The task

The material had to be able to stand in a national museum exhibition — and it had to be filmed on location in the Arctic. That placed high demands on both planning and quality: interviews with presence, and footage of the voyage through the ice that could carry an exhibition.

The solution

After a series of meetings with the museum, we made a plan. We primarily produced a series of interviews that give insight into life in Tasiilaq and the history behind seafaring — supplemented with an atmospheric film of the town and drone footage of the supply ship breaking its way through the ice. The film became not just documentation, but a reminder of why seafaring still binds the world together today.
